Why the T1 Company was Founded:

The founders of the T1 Company are post-divestiture (post-1984) carrier network industry veterans with strong backgrounds in wide area network engineering, and network control and monitoring centers. Many of the founders maintain independent and private consulting practices advising business clients in the areas of information and communication technology. It was out of these consulting client relationships that the T1 Company was launched to address businesses need for a full service IP network provider.

Experienced in all forms of wide area network technologies and applications, the founders of the T1 Company recognize the power of the Internet Protocol (IP) as the preferred transport method over the older more expensive, less effective transport protocols. We see the Internet as a tool to drive businesses ahead, and we recognized the attraction among business professionals to develop and use applications based on IP. We subscribe to the theory that over time nearly all data, video and long distance voice communication will originate using IP over a single access pipe…most likely a DS1, DS3 or other broadband service line.

Unlike most first generation Internet Service Providers (ISP) that were founded in the mid- to late-1990s to offer simple web browsing and email via dial-up modem Internet access to an almost exclusively residential customer base, the T1 Company was founded in early 2002 to offer high speed, highly reliable, highly available and highly affordable dedicated Internet access at full T1 speeds and above to an almost exclusively business customer.
